Description

"Safety and FMEA"
(Failure, Modes, and Effects Analysis)

Presented By
Dan Nicol, Lean Six Sigma Black Belt
Industry Consulting Enterprise, Inc.

OSHA mandates that employers provide a safe workplace, and cites Job Hazard Analysis (JHA) as a primary means to identify, address, and remediate all potential safety hazards. The JHA relates to specific processes resident in the workplace, identifies the attendant potential for accident and injury, and provides the means to prevent the occurrence of the safety hazard. Application of specific elements of the Six Sigma Define-Measure-Analyze-Improve-Control (DMAIC) method offers a powerful and innovative way to not only develop the required JHA, but more importantly, provide a viable and dynamic preventative means to ensure employee safety in the workplace. Presentation topics:
  • Understand the OSHA guidelines for Job Hazard Analysis
  • Learn the fundamentals of Team Oriented Problem Solving
  • Develop a DMAIC Process Map and Prioritization Matrix
  • Construct a Safety FMEA and calculate the Risk Priority Numbers (RPN)
  • Formulate corrective actions to address identified hazards
  • Incorporate the Safety FMEA as a Job Hazard Analysis

Dan Nicol holds a Lean Six Sigma Master Black Belt certification and is a manufacturing industry veteran with a generation of experience.
He instituted the Industry Consulting Enterprise (ICE) management consulting business in January 2015.

Dan guides any business on its journey; the journey of continuous improvement. He engages the two primary enemies of operational effectiveness, Waste & Process Variation. Dan skillfully employs two powerful tools to confront Waste & Process Variation. LEAN & SIX SIGMA are the tools. He leads and navigates client teams on their road to excellence, and shows the way and maps the course to elite operational performance. ICE has a tool box stocked with Operations Management, Quality Control, Safety, and Supply Chain Management instruments. Simply stated, ICE delivers distinctive business solutions.
